An Interview with Deshay
Q: When did you first become interested in interior design?
A: From a young age, you could often find me redecorating my bedroom and play areas. You might say that Ken and Barbie were my first clients! I loved seeing how simply changing the furniture layout in a room could create a whole new feeling and function in the same space. That intrigue eventually led me to Parson’s School of Design in New York where I became certified interior designer.
Q: What is your design style?
A: While I personally lean towards modern design, I like to mix styles together – for example, traditional and farmhouse or contemporary and coastal – to create a space that is fresh and comfortable. Blending different design styles together gives a space a livable, timeless feeling.
Q: Who is your ideal client?
A: An ideal client would have an appreciation for design, be able to communicate their needs and wants, and trust our team to produce something amazing just for them.
Q: What has been your favorite project?
A: While I have many favorites, I would say my first project is the most memorable. I was commissioned to design the interior of a large, custom home with tons of special features including a three-story foyer, interior dog wash, climate-controlled wine cellar and more. At the end of the project, I designed over 20 rooms from floor to ceiling for a client who told me I “nailed it!” It was an amazing opportunity, so much fun and only just the beginning.
